Tencap rating for JTT USA PDF Print E-mail
Written by tom

Jr Team Tennis USA League in partnership with Tencap Tennis LLC, brings the dynamic and accurate Tencap rating system to local junior team tennis. The Tencap rating system is provided free to all JTT USA participants, and is now fully operational showing Tencap ratings, scores entry, team and individual standings for each registered player. Each player was given an initial rating, which then dynamically changes upon entry of each weekly match score.
Even casual non-league matches can be entered and be counted towards their rating, as long as both players (or all four in the case of doubles) are in the JTT USA Tencap system.

The old NTRP rating (2.5, 3.0, 3.5 etc), which is now over 20 years old, was considered by JTT USA as not a good indication of a player's skill level. It is a self-assessed rating that provides little idea of player ability. The Tencap ratings system is scores based, weighted by both gender and age.  The ratings go from 0 to 80, with the higher numbers representing a lower skill level. The lower the number, the better the player. This highly accurate system is designed for use with both juniors and adults.

Players (and team captains) simply click on the 'Tencap Log On' tennis ball on the www.TeamTennisUSA.com home page. They then log on with their user name and password provided to them in their welcome email. They can then access their profile, team schedule, scores, team and individual standings.
JTT USA has paid particular attention to the junior's safety, and does not include any personal details other than age or email address. Their last name is not shown in full, and is simply represented by the first two initials of their last name.

The Tencap rating will be used to assess each player at the end of the season for their eligibility to play in the new Jr Masters Series travel league commencing in January 2010.
