The old NTRP rating (2.5, 3.0, 3.5 etc), which is now over 20 years old, was considered by JTT USA as not a good indication of a player's skill level. It is a self-assessed rating that provides little idea of player ability. The Tencap ratings system is scores based, weighted by both gender and age. The ratings go from 0 to 80, with the higher numbers representing a lower skill level. The lower the number, the better the player. This highly accurate system is designed for use with both juniors and adults. Players (and team captains) simply click on the 'Tencap Log On' tennis ball on the www.TeamTennisUSA.com home page. They then log on with their user name and password provided to them in their welcome email. They can then access their profile, team schedule, scores, team and individual standings. The Tencap rating will be used to assess each player at the end of the season for their eligibility to play in the new Jr Masters Series travel league commencing in January 2010.

Jr Team Tennis USA League in partnership with Tencap Tennis LLC, brings the dynamic and accurate Tencap rating system to local junior team tennis. The Tencap rating system is provided free to all JTT USA participants, and is now fully operational showing Tencap ratings, scores entry, team and individual standings for each registered player. Each player was given an initial rating, which then dynamically changes upon entry of each weekly match score.
